Alsop Insurance Brokers Inc. was founded in 1945 by Fred Alsop.

Fred operated out of his home in Stouffville. He worked as an insurance broker, supplementing his income driving a taxi part time.

As the business grew Fred discontinued the taxi service and focused solely on insurance.

In 1964, Fred constructed the current office on Main Street and moved the business out of his home. The brokerage has been located in the same location ever since.

Also in 1964, Fred's son Dennis entered the business. As time progressed, Dennis took over the day-to-day operation of the business from his father.

Today, there are three partners, including Dennis Alsop, his son Scott, and Jeremy Wideman.
